Curating concept to reality – Project Manager David Hill

An insight into one of our accomplished Project Managers

David Hill Project Manager Greenspan Projects Ltd

We introduce one of our construction management team’s expert Project Managers –  David Hill!

He has been a part of the Greenspan Project Management team for 3 years now and works closely with our in-house design team to help bring their concepts from screen/paper to actual tangible completed attractions.  The other main aspect of his role is overseeing the construction phase of the project, and he is usually on-site liaising with the construction team ensuring that everything comes together successfully. He has predominantly worked on Adventure Golf course projects whilst being here at Greenspan and successfully brings their themes to life.

The clients whose projects Dave is working on always say that he builds a great personable working relationship with them and keeps up excellent communications throughout the lifespan of the project.

Dave has over 30 years of experience in bespoke design and manufacture for the leisure, construction and sculpture sectors. At the start of his career, he worked as a skilled fibreglass laminator, building the outer hulls to boats and the bodies to kit cars. With a move into the construction industry, he has gone on to work on many themed projects, adventure golf and high-value sculptural commissions all over the world.  He is now responsible for managing large prestigious Greenspan projects from point of order through to handover.

We asked Dave what his favourite Greenspan project to work on was, and he didn’t have to think too long before answering: ‘Fairhaven Lake Adventure Golf Course’ for Fylde Borough Council.

The reason why it was his favourite was that he had the opportunity to work closely with our client from concept design through to completion to fully deliver their vision.

“Not only did we produce a high-quality course with lots of fun and challenge but we also highlighted and brought to life many local features and attractions in an interactive and educational manner. This was part of a larger redevelopment of the Fylde coastline and it is a great representation and advert for the local area.”

We asked him what he enjoys the most out of the work that he does?:

“There are too many things to mention, but being part of a great team, the challenges and the rewards that overcoming them brings, seeing a clients vision brought to life and the Friday breakfasts we regularly enjoy!”

We look forward to Dave bringing many more new attractions to life in the near future and beyond!

Hendra Holiday Park

Hendra Holiday Park is an award-winning holiday park located close to Cornwall’s north coast, near Newquay.

Hendra are Visit England winners, scooping a Bronze Award in the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year category 2023. They also went through to the Visit England finals after winning Gold at the South West Tourism’s Holiday Park of the Year. Hendra is a five-star destination, home to bespoke Hendra holiday homes as well as touringcamping, and caravan pitches to suit everyone’s holiday needs.

The word Hendra is Cornish for ‘Home Farm’ which is perfect for this family-run site, set up in 1972. They are home to a huge range of family-friendly activities and amenities, ranging from Oasis Fun Pools – one of the largest indoor fun pools in the South West, to live entertainment and kids’ activities.

Hendra Holiday Park asked Greenspan to design and build a 9-hole Palm Beach themed Adventure Golf Course for the opening of their 2024 season. Our designers took inspiration from the surrounding coastal towns when coming up with the initial concept design, with the intention of bringing Newquay’s fun, vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere straight back into this site. The team were able to achieve this by incorporating sea themed creatures, treasure chests, a revolving flashing lighthouse, life-sized surfboards and a gigantic deckchair – perfect for your family photos!

It was important for us to work closely with the client, be fully transparent and take them on the Greenspan journey. Ensuring that the final installation, not only reflected the initial concept design, that the client saw and loved, but exceeded their expectations was crucial. We have designed this course so that it can be played during the day and into the evening, by people of all ages and abilities to enjoy and create memorable moments that will last a lifetime. – Chris Marais, Project Manager.

Keeping it local… Our team pride themselves on supporting local companies and suppliers when completing our projects, which can be seen in the landscaping of this mini-golf course. All of the planting areas and rock edgings are constructed by locally sourced products which not only supports local businesses in the area, but also reflects and enhances the local environment.
