Each project we are asked to undertake has its own challenges and we pride ourselves in providing innovative solutions and thinking outside the box.

Types of Outdoor Play

Activity Trails

Timber play trails offers varying degrees of challenges to engage both younger and older children.

Interactive props and storytelling encourage children along the trail where they will encounter a range of challenges, varying heights and elevations to achieve a more immersive experience.

They require a relatively low budget, but achieve great interaction and interest from children.

Standard Play Areas

These kinds of play areas are the type you find in the local park, housing development and even some school playgrounds.

Although each playground design is unique, they are often developed from a standard range of timber play equipment like, swings, climbers, clamber logs rock walls etc.

Sand & Water Play

We have seen a significant rise in the demand for water and sand related play over the last 5 years.

Kids love sensory play and a sand and water play area can provide endless hours of fun. We believe sand and water play encourages children to use their minds and imagination. This encourages children to use a different part of their minds. They can build, create, carve, mould, transport and mix products and find out how textures react, mix and develop when in contact with each other.

Assault Courses

Encourage people to get active…promote teamwork by adding an assault course. It’s a great use of outdoor space complementing the natural surroundings, tailored to the existing landscape.

Great for families and community groups…corporate teambuilding. Add a dog agility course and even the family pet can enjoy the experience!

Zip Lines & Rope Courses

Children love to explore. They find that climbing rope walls scrambling through tunnels and flying down zip lines is out of the ordinary and something that is normally discouraged at home.

On the trails they can play solely or as a collective as they pick their way through. These are often found in wooded locations as the trees act as the major structure.

Themed Adventure

Adventure play can be designed and built to fit into literally any space making it the perfect addition to your visitor attraction. These are normally sited at destinations where people can spend the day.

From enormous treetop soaring play towers to wide spread play trails, slides, swings and more. Incorporate it with a picnic area, situate it near a café or next to an ice cream kiosk… a brilliant way to entertain the family and increase dwell time.

Itchen Valley Country Park Outdoor Play

🌳 Greenspan Projects Delivers Adventure at Itchen Valley Country Park

We are thrilled to announce the completion of The Den and Badgers Burrow, the dynamic new play areas designed and built by Greenspan Projects Ltd for Itchen Valley Country Park in collaboration with Eastleigh Borough Council.

Nestled within the expansive 440 acres of woodland, walking trails, and a welcoming café, Itchen Valley Country Park has long been a cherished destination for local residents. Now, with the addition of The Den and Badgers Burrow, the park’s allure has been elevated to new heights.

The Den: Crafted with the youngest adventurers in mind, The Den beckons with a variety of engaging play equipment. From the enchanting basket swing to toddler-friendly swings and a thrilling slide, children can let their imaginations soar. Balance beams, a bridge, tunnels, and a climbing turret extend the adventure, ensuring endless fun amidst the natural beauty of Itchen Valley. The stunning Robinia timber structures seamlessly blend with the woodland surroundings, enhancing the park’s aesthetic appeal.

Badgers Burrow – Phase Two: The excitement continues with the completion of phase two at Badgers Burrow, catering to older thrill-seekers. This area boasts new swings, a double zip wire, a slide, and scramble logs, creating a haven for older children to explore and enjoy.

Since opening in the autumn of 2023, there have been some excellent reviews:

“We had an amazing family day at Itchen Valley Country Park! Our two children, aged 9 and 6, had a blast with plenty of entertainment.

The play park was a hit with the kids. Additionally, we discovered another fantastic play area near the woodland café. The play trail, adorned with various wooden play equipment, added an extra layer of excitement to our day. Despite the short distance, the experience was packed with fun for the whole family!”

“Our family has been visiting Itchen Valley for years, and we must say the new play areas are nothing short of excellent. The swings and slides are definite favorites among the kids. What’s particularly pleasing is the natural aesthetic of the play areas; it’s a refreshing change from some overly bright and artificial setups.

A big congratulations to everyone involved in creating these wonderful spaces! Rest assured, we’ll continue coming back for more family fun at Itchen Valley. It’s a delight to see the park evolving and maintaining its appeal for both children and adults alike. Well done!”
