Fairhaven Lake Restoration Project

Fylde council were awarded a substantial £1.48m pounds from the National Heritage Lottery Fund in December 2018. This amount was allocated to the restoration of the Fairhaven Lake and Gardens.

Fylde Council says

“the project aims to conserve and restore Fairhaven’s heritage buildings and landscape, improve the lake’s infrastructure and water quality, and provide an exciting new programme of events.”

You can see the full proposed plan for the project Here: Fairhaven Lake Landscape Masterplan

As some may know Fairhaven Lake and Gardens is one of the UK’s first recreation marine lakes. It was constructed in the 19th century and hit its peak in the 1950s and 60s. Crowds used to line the banks, to watch the boat races and to take part in leisure activities.

The prime objective of this restoration project is to bring Fairhaven Lake and gardens back up to its former prime, offering a selection of water sports, and other new activities that will be open 7 days a week all year round for all ages to enjoy.

The project is now well underway, with an outdoor play area and a brilliant locally themed adventure golf course already complete.
Greenspan was proud to have been awarded the design and build of this brilliant Adventure Golf course. Working with Fylde Council has been a pleasure and we would like to give Charlie Richards, Project Officer at Fylde Council, a big thank you and well done. (The Full case study can be seen HERE).

The Fairhaven Lake Adventure Golf course had a soft opening on the 25th September 2020 with the Grand opening taking place on the 28th.
Greenspan Marketing Manager, Matt Young was privileged to be a part of the Grand, but socially distanced opening of the new Fairhaven Adventure Golf. The ribbon was cut by Councillor Angela Jacques, Mayor of Fylde at 12.00 mid-day with opening speech carried out by Councillor Cheryl Little.

The Mayor said

There has been amazing feedback from the local residents, tourist and many others.

Hendra Holiday Park

Hendra Holiday Park is an award-winning holiday park located close to Cornwall’s north coast, near Newquay.

Hendra are Visit England winners, scooping a Bronze Award in the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year category 2023. They also went through to the Visit England finals after winning Gold at the South West Tourism’s Holiday Park of the Year. Hendra is a five-star destination, home to bespoke Hendra holiday homes as well as touringcamping, and caravan pitches to suit everyone’s holiday needs.

The word Hendra is Cornish for ‘Home Farm’ which is perfect for this family-run site, set up in 1972. They are home to a huge range of family-friendly activities and amenities, ranging from Oasis Fun Pools – one of the largest indoor fun pools in the South West, to live entertainment and kids’ activities.

Hendra Holiday Park asked Greenspan to design and build a 9-hole Palm Beach themed Adventure Golf Course for the opening of their 2024 season. Our designers took inspiration from the surrounding coastal towns when coming up with the initial concept design, with the intention of bringing Newquay’s fun, vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere straight back into this site. The team were able to achieve this by incorporating sea themed creatures, treasure chests, a revolving flashing lighthouse, life-sized surfboards and a gigantic deckchair – perfect for your family photos!

It was important for us to work closely with the client, be fully transparent and take them on the Greenspan journey. Ensuring that the final installation, not only reflected the initial concept design, that the client saw and loved, but exceeded their expectations was crucial. We have designed this course so that it can be played during the day and into the evening, by people of all ages and abilities to enjoy and create memorable moments that will last a lifetime. – Chris Marais, Project Manager.

Keeping it local… Our team pride themselves on supporting local companies and suppliers when completing our projects, which can be seen in the landscaping of this mini-golf course. All of the planting areas and rock edgings are constructed by locally sourced products which not only supports local businesses in the area, but also reflects and enhances the local environment.
