Another indoor adventure… with award-winning holiday park Seal Bay Resort

Greenspan Projects Ltd. has announced a new partnership with Seal Bay, a Cove Communities resort, where it is creating a brand new indoor adventure attraction, set to open in summer 2023.

Seal Bay Resort, formerly Bunn Leisure, is a multi-award-winning holiday park on the South Coast. It is a popular choice for family beach holidays, self-catering breaks and more. The operator wanted to enhance its offer by utilising some existing space for a new adventure attraction and turned to Greenspan Projects to bring their vision to life.

Introducing The Dockyard

The Dockyard will be home to a new indoor climbing frame and walls, with bounce nets on the ceiling. There will also be indoor adventure play and adventure golf. In addition, the Bowling Bay will be refurbished.

Fans of clambering and climbing will be able to enjoy a range of climbing walls, ranging in difficulty and suitable for everyone from novices to expert climbers. Visitors will be able to climb the rigging and make their way to the top. Here, they can then decide whether they are brave enough to take on the challenge of the nets. With three suspended bounce nets to choose from, guests can bounce stand jump while enjoying a bird’s eye view of the adventure complex.

The indoor adventure golf is family-friendly, inviting guests to hop on board for a voyage complete with dastardly obstacles and challenges.

A strong partnership

Talking about the project so far, Gordon Bush, head of activities and leisure at Cove UK, says:

“Working with Greenspan to convert what was a fairly standard sports hall into a wonderous space filled with adventurous activities has been an adventure in itself. We are really looking forward to opening the doors to team training later in May and then to our guests to enjoy in June. Greenspan have taken a fantastical idea and are turning it into a reality.”

Gordon Walker, Cove UK operations director, adds:

“Our Directors challenged us to find the best in class developers that would support and add value to our business. We spent 18 months trying to find the right supplier for Cove UK who could fulfil our briefs. When we reached out to Greenspan they listened to our brief and came back with a project that literally left us speechless. We knew right then that we wanted to present this to our Directors because it didn’t just fit the brief, it would blow them away.

“Making a business case to spend millions was made easier as the project brief told an imaginative story backed up with jaw-dropping equipment themed all around the Dockyard. Greenspan have been brilliant to partner with and we were so impressed that we added two other projects to our parks in Scotland that have again paid homage to their magnificent locations alongside imaginary play to take the resorts to a whole new level of amazing customer experience.”

High levels of detail & skill

Rod Morton, CEO of Greenspan Projects, says: “This has been incredibly exciting to work on with Cove UK, as part of their new development for Seal Bay Resort. What strikes me most is the sheer level of detail that has gone into the technical design and planning for this project – which has so many levels to it… in more ways than one!

“Our team are highly skilled when it comes to bringing the imagination to life and making sure safety elements are of paramount importance, yet they also work so closely with our clients to ensure they can bring dreams to reality… and that’s what it’s all about. On behalf of the whole Greenspan team, it has been a great experience and we can’t wait to see the finalised attraction in full swing.”

Recently, the Greenspan Projects team spoke to blooloop about their work in the growing competitive socialising space, highlighting projects with leaders in the field such as Boom Battle Bar in the UK and Puttery in the US.

Hendra Holiday Park

Hendra Holiday Park is an award-winning holiday park located close to Cornwall’s north coast, near Newquay.

Hendra are Visit England winners, scooping a Bronze Award in the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year category 2023. They also went through to the Visit England finals after winning Gold at the South West Tourism’s Holiday Park of the Year. Hendra is a five-star destination, home to bespoke Hendra holiday homes as well as touringcamping, and caravan pitches to suit everyone’s holiday needs.

The word Hendra is Cornish for ‘Home Farm’ which is perfect for this family-run site, set up in 1972. They are home to a huge range of family-friendly activities and amenities, ranging from Oasis Fun Pools – one of the largest indoor fun pools in the South West, to live entertainment and kids’ activities.

Hendra Holiday Park asked Greenspan to design and build a 9-hole Palm Beach themed Adventure Golf Course for the opening of their 2024 season. Our designers took inspiration from the surrounding coastal towns when coming up with the initial concept design, with the intention of bringing Newquay’s fun, vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere straight back into this site. The team were able to achieve this by incorporating sea themed creatures, treasure chests, a revolving flashing lighthouse, life-sized surfboards and a gigantic deckchair – perfect for your family photos!

It was important for us to work closely with the client, be fully transparent and take them on the Greenspan journey. Ensuring that the final installation, not only reflected the initial concept design, that the client saw and loved, but exceeded their expectations was crucial. We have designed this course so that it can be played during the day and into the evening, by people of all ages and abilities to enjoy and create memorable moments that will last a lifetime. – Chris Marais, Project Manager.

Keeping it local… Our team pride themselves on supporting local companies and suppliers when completing our projects, which can be seen in the landscaping of this mini-golf course. All of the planting areas and rock edgings are constructed by locally sourced products which not only supports local businesses in the area, but also reflects and enhances the local environment.
