More about the project:

Greenspan completed this uniquely themed 18 hole Adventure Golf course for Marwell Resort, which neighbours the famous Marwell Zoo (Owslebury). Much consideration was placed within its design to makes sure the course blended into the surrounding picturesque natural landscape. Each hole incorporates a well-known landmark from the South Downs National Park. They are creatively located on the holes to maximise the playability and enjoyment of the course. It was completed in time for the summer holidays and has proved to be a popular leisure offering at the prestigious resort.

Due to the site being located within a national park, current complex planning restrictions used to protect the local countryside needed to be factored into the design and build planning. Working closely with the client, our experienced Project Managers confidently worked with these constraints and completed the project successfully to the agreed specifications.

Another challenge that came with the project was the sloping ground outlay on the site. Our designers integrated the slope into the design to avoid extensive excavations to level off the area.

As well as using local landmarks as a showcase for the South Downs, the history of the Marwell area is highlighted around the course, adding an educational element.
