Puttify Leads UK Leisure Center into a New Era

In 2025, Freedom Leisure, who have operated Guildford Spectrum for the local council since 2011, had a clear vision to enhance and modernize the site following a renewal of their contract. A community leisure centre at its heart, any new attraction needed to be something that would be attractive to both their existing audience and drive interest from a broader one. As experts in the turnkey design and build of leisure attractions and leaders in the family entertainment center industry, Greenspan was engaged in late 2025 to provide the solution.

Mini Golf, Reimagined for the Modern Era

The first stage of their modernization was to introduce a new attraction alongside a rebrand of the facility. Six of the thirty-two lanes of bowling were removed and the ceiling raised, making way for nine holes of Puttify, upscale tech infused mini golf, accessibility compliant covering just shy of 3,000 square feet.

Freedom Leisure chose Puttify because:

• Each hole offered a distinct challenge.
• Automated scoring and all technology built into the hole instead of the ball or club removes any friction with operation or negative experiences with the technology.
• The three-shot gameplay keeps everyone engaged from the first hole to the last, regardless of score.
• The non-linear mini golf course layout lets groups start anywhere and move around freely, preventing queues and crowding, so even on busy weekends, everyone can enjoy their game without waiting.
• The customization options meant that Puttify could perfectly complement their venue rebranding

Guildford Spectrum has always drawn a broad audience. Mini golf gives the venue a new anchor attraction, but Puttify mini golf makes it an experience that is addictive and repeatable.

It’s not just about the direct revenue either. High-margin F&B and associated spend uplift is what makes adding an attraction like Puttify so valuable to a venue like this. That dynamic is what makes the activity mix under one roof so powerful. Bowling, ice skating, swimming, athletics, a gym, and now Puttify. Each addition gives a different guest a reason to be there, and the more reasons there are, the longer people stay, and the more often they come back.
