A Yorkshire-Themed Adventure Golf Designed for a Luxury Hotel

The Great Yorkshire Golf Adventure at Rudding Park Hotel is an ambitious 18-hole course designed as a tribute to Yorkshire. Spanning approximately 23,000 square feet, the course immerses players in the county’s landscapes, landmarks, and legends.

Every hole tells a story. The idea was to capture Yorkshire across 18 holes, from the moors to the minster, and from the coast to the coal mine. To bring it to life, Rudding Park worked with Greenspan, the mini golf designers behind the project.

Yorkshire-Themed Adventure Golf:

Each hole brings to life an iconic Yorkshire landmark:

• Whitby, where the ball crosses the mouth of the River Esk beneath the town’s famous whalebone arch.
• The Shambles, York’s crooked medieval street lined with overhanging timber shopfronts.
• York Minster, with a hole shaped like the cathedral, inviting players to putt straight through.
• Rudding Park House, modeled on the resort’s own house, where the course ends.

Other holes transport players through Theakston brewery, over Malham Cove, aboard a Viking longship, and across the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The adventure golf design goes beyond the theming: the entire course traces the outline of Yorkshire, and the water features are engineered to flow like the county’s rivers.

Creating Value for the Hotel

For Rudding Park, the course broadens the hotel’s appeal with an attraction that guests of all ages can enjoy together. Families, couples, and corporate groups come for the golf and spend the afternoon exploring the hotel, moving from the course to its restaurants and gardens in a single visit. Each mini golf theme captures a different landmark, so no two holes play alike, making for a memorable round that brings visitors back to the estate time and again. The adventure golf course is set to open in August, 2026.
