Adventure Play – Wellington Country Park

Adventure Play – Wellington Country Park

With a brief to create a completely bespoke, unique, and iconic adventure play area to really excite visitors, Wellington Country Park enlisted Greenspan to realise their vision.

Wellington Country Park is set within 350 acres of beautiful parklands, near the village of Riseley, Berkshire. Offering a vast array of family-orientated activities and attractions, the country park needed to be able to offer a higher capacity adventure play area to meet demand.

Greenspan’s specialist in-house design and build team worked with the country park to create an adventure play area that stimulates young adventurers with varying levels of height and challenge. The stunning, hand-crafted Robinia structures provide a real wow factor whilst managing to sit beautifully within the natural woodland surroundings.

The adventure play area incorporates two gigantic 3-4 storey play towers with a range of exciting connections from wonky walkways to wobbly suspension bridges, and a number of routes upwards via ladders and nets. Once up on the higher-levels, young adventurers can take in the view and then whizz back down to the ground via a range of exciting slides and alternative play features.

The clever design incorporates a variety of low-level play features including dens, nets, and slides, providing younger explorers with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the excitement too.

In addition to the two main structures other features include a mound placed play tower with nets and a slide, a bird’s nest swing, zip wire, and A-frame swings.

This stunning, iconic, and truly bespoke play area will certainly stick in the minds of the young explorers, enticing them back for endless hours of family fun. It is a fantastic addition to the country park.

Hendra Holiday Park

Hendra Holiday Park is an award-winning holiday park located close to Cornwall’s north coast, near Newquay.

Hendra are Visit England winners, scooping a Bronze Award in the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year category 2023. They also went through to the Visit England finals after winning Gold at the South West Tourism’s Holiday Park of the Year. Hendra is a five-star destination, home to bespoke Hendra holiday homes as well as touringcamping, and caravan pitches to suit everyone’s holiday needs.

The word Hendra is Cornish for ‘Home Farm’ which is perfect for this family-run site, set up in 1972. They are home to a huge range of family-friendly activities and amenities, ranging from Oasis Fun Pools – one of the largest indoor fun pools in the South West, to live entertainment and kids’ activities.

Hendra Holiday Park asked Greenspan to design and build a 9-hole Palm Beach themed Adventure Golf Course for the opening of their 2024 season. Our designers took inspiration from the surrounding coastal towns when coming up with the initial concept design, with the intention of bringing Newquay’s fun, vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere straight back into this site. The team were able to achieve this by incorporating sea themed creatures, treasure chests, a revolving flashing lighthouse, life-sized surfboards and a gigantic deckchair – perfect for your family photos!

It was important for us to work closely with the client, be fully transparent and take them on the Greenspan journey. Ensuring that the final installation, not only reflected the initial concept design, that the client saw and loved, but exceeded their expectations was crucial. We have designed this course so that it can be played during the day and into the evening, by people of all ages and abilities to enjoy and create memorable moments that will last a lifetime. – Chris Marais, Project Manager.

Keeping it local… Our team pride themselves on supporting local companies and suppliers when completing our projects, which can be seen in the landscaping of this mini-golf course. All of the planting areas and rock edgings are constructed by locally sourced products which not only supports local businesses in the area, but also reflects and enhances the local environment.
